Check Clamp & Cable

First off, you need to make sure that the battery is safe and firmly attached to the cradle. Then, clean up the top of the battery including cable clamps and wire attached to it. Besides, if there is any corrosion on the cable, clean it using a tablespoon of baking soda mixed in a cup of water. Check out and ensure that the cable clamps and lead wire contact are proper.

Do not Use Grease

Make sure that the top of the battery is clean and dry. Never apply grease to the cable clamp and terminal for lubrication. Instead, you can use Vaseline or petroleum jelly to maintain lubrication.

Close Vent Tightly 

When you are done with the cleaning process, make sure that the vent plugs are closed tightly. Also, keep checking the exhaust system is not causing any damage to the vent hose. 

Use Distilled Water

In some time, the electrolyte in the battery will get reduced and you will require to add water. However, make sure that you use distilled water to the indicator line. Never use acid. 

Park Your Car in Insulated Garage

If you are not using your car, then you should park it in the insulated garage as it will keep your car’s battery warm during winter and keep it charged. Avoid using the heater in the garage, else the car may form rust.
